My first real job was with Eastern Municipal Water District, where I spent my college summers rotating through various departments of the water agency, such as operations, planning and the on-site lab at the wastewater treatment plant. That experience at EMWD, plus the post-college gap year I spent working for the Mayor of Riverside, likely planted the seeds for my current City Council candidacy. Certainly, Mayor Loveridge’s passion for local government has always stuck with me.
I left the Inland Empire for law school at UCLA and after graduating with honors joined the Los Angeles office of Sidley Austin, where I began my career as a corporate and mergers and acquisitions attorney and later made partner (while nine months pregnant with my second son!). While there I was deeply involved in law student recruiting, including serving as the hiring partner for eight years. I also have been on the board of the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles for eleven years, previously serving as the chair of the Business Law Section.
My twenty-plus year legal career has been spent helping clients achieve their business goals, currently as a partner in the corporate group at the Los Angeles-based law firm Munger, Tolles & Olson. Most of my time is devoted to planning, documenting and negotiating transactions such as purchases and sales of companies, financing transactions and counseling regarding corporate governance matters. I represent clients large and small: entrepreneurs, private equity firms and companies in a range of industries such as retail, manufacturing and media and entertainment.
My husband and I met in high school and went to senior prom together! We moved together to Los Angeles after college, bought our first house in Pasadena in 2002 and moved to Sierra Madre in late 2009. Last year we celebrated our twentieth wedding anniversary! Our sons are now 13 and almost 16 years old, both attended Sierra Madre Elementary and Middle Schools and now attend St. Rita’s School and Maranatha High School. When they were in elementary school I was a weekly volunteer in each of their classrooms and volunteered with the PTA. The boys both played baseball with Sierra Madre Little League, with their dad often coaching. We had such a wonderful experience in Little League and, to help provide that same experience for other families, I joined the board three years ago and still serve as its vice-president. Outside of youth sports, our family enjoys river rafting, zip lining and movie nights.
